Dr. Vaughan came to the Greenbrier area in 1995 after graduating from WVU in dentistry in May 1995. He purchased the practice from Dr. Bob Caldwell in 1996 and then purchased Dr. Echol's practice in 2002. Dr. Vaughan was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Red House, WV when he was 10 years old, returning to his family home place. Before dental school, Dr. Vaughan graduated from Marshall University in August, 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. During his years in practice, Dr. Vaughan has taken many continuing education courses and is now trained and certified in oral conscious sedation. Dr. Vaughan is a member of the local rotary club, American Dental Association, Ducks Unlimited and local train organization. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, Kara and Evan. His hobbies include occasional hunting, fishing, watching sports, golfing and anything to do with trains. He always plants a fruitful garden and loves doing yard work.
Crystal Young- Certified Dental Assistant
Crystal joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in 1998. Crystal came to Dr. Vaughan's practice from Lewisburg Children's Shelter with no training in the dental field. With lots of hours of hard work and training she has become Dr. Vaughan's long time right hand assistant. Crystal took a rigorous examination and became a Certified Dental Assistant in November 2005. She is a member of the American Dental Assistants' Association and has been involved in dental education in the Greenbrier community. Crystal is originally from Williamson, Kentucky and now lives in the White Sulphur Springs area.Crystal has one son, Tyler who is an elementary school student. She enjoys spending time with her family & friends & favorite pastime is vacationing at the beach.
Deadra (Dee) Laxton- Dental Assistant
Dee joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in June of 2008. She had two years experience in assisting prior to joining Dr. Vaughan's practice. Dee is now certified in dental assistant expanded dutied & coronal polishing & is a ceritifed nitrous oxide monitor. She lives in Ronceverte with her husband Brian and two wonderful boys, Sam who is a high school student and grown son Josh. She loves spending time with her family, going to the beach, bowling, watching the Yankees play ball, and NASCAR.
Laurie Palmer-Front Office Business Coordinator
Laurie joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in September of 2002. She is the lead business coordinator of the practice and does some part-time dental assisting. In the spring of 2006 she became certified in dental assistant expanded duties. Laurie is originally from Newport News, VA and moved frequently with the military. Laurie has lived in the Pence Springs area with her husband, Mike, since 1989. They have one son, Justin who is now attending University of Charleston on an acedemic & athletic scholarship and will graduate in 2015. A new surprise arrived; Emma Jo who was born on March 7, 2008. She enjoys the outdoors; fishing, camping and hunting etc. and especially watching her son play football. She loves to cook and have family and friends over for gatherings.
Anna Olsen-Front Office Business Coordinator
Anna joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in February 2011 with one years previous dental experience. Anna comes to us from Carson City, Nevada. She has had an exciting career as a secretary. She worked for Department of Taxation & Department of vital statistics & was the executive secretary with the Nevada emergency management & homeland security. Anna & her husband Dion were married in 1986 & moved their family to Caldwell, WV from Nevada in August of 2009. They have 3 children, Krista who is currently a college student in Colorado, Dion who will graduate in 2013 and Tawnya who will graduate in 2014, both attend Greenbrier East High School. Anna enjoys bowling, camping, gardening, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play & spending her spare time with her family and friends.
Dina Agnone Vaughan, BSDH, MS-Registered Dental Hygienist
Dina is the wife of Dr. Vaughan and has practiced with him since their marriage in 1997. She is originally from Rome, NY and moved to WV in 1994 to become an assistant professor in Dental Hygiene at WVU. She has an associate of science degree in dental hygiene from Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY, a bachelor's of science degree in Dental Hygiene from WVU and a Master's degree in Community Health Education from WVU. She volunteers for Lewisburg Elementary School, SWISH fluoride program, is certified in Nitrous Oxide monitoring, administration of local anesthetic and has her general supervision permit. Dina and Dr. Vaughan have two children, Kara who attends Easten Greenbrier Middle School and Evan who is an elementary student. Dina is a Basic Life Support CPR instructor and served on the West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners from 1997-2007. She was initially appointed to the board by the Governor in 1997, and has fulfilled two consecutive five-year terms. Dina served as secretary of the board twice, and ended her 10-year service as President. She is the first female and the first dental hygienist to hold this position in the history of the Board. She also serves on 3 regional clinical boards-Northeast Regional Dental Board (NERB), Southern Regional Testing Agency (SRTA) and American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) where she is involved in the examining of dental hygiene students on regional boards.She serves on the Board of Directors for SRTA, as well as their Dental Hygiene Committee and the Dental Hygiene Committee of ADEX, where the construction of the clinical exam for licensure occurs. Dina is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and the American Association of Dental Examiners. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. Her hobbies include golfing, crafts, cooking, bowling and watching football.
Crystal McClaughtery, RDH-Registered Dental Hygienist
Crystal joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in June of 2006. She graduated from West Virginia University Institute of Technology with an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene in May, 2006. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and while in school she taught oral health education at Page Elementary. Crystal is originally from Beckley and currently lives in Summers County in the Sandstone area. She is married to Frankie and they have two sons & one daughter, Coen, Frankie and Ava Elise. She enjoys the outdoors with her husband and kids. They like to fish and camp and spend time on trails four wheeler riding.
Karen Guills, BSDH-Registered Dental Hygienist
Karen joined Dr. Vaughan's practice in 1996 and had previously worked in this same office for Dr.Caldwell & Dr. Echols since 1968. Karen graduated from WVU in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. Karen has been a resident of Lewisburg since 1971 where she became the first dental hygienist in Greenbrier County. She has two grown children, Amy and Patrick. Amy and her husband Jim live in California, where Amy is a Certified Public Accountant. Patrick is currently living in Lewisburg and is employed by Nationwide Insurance. Karen has been an active member of the Greenbrier community. She was a member of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship from 1971 to 1976 and was an assistant Sunday school teacher. Karen volunteered for 9 years at the Lewisburg Elementary school SWISH fluoride program and was active as a volunteer with the Greenbrier East Junior High and High school band when her children were in school. Karen belongs to the republican committee and Republican Party and is a member of the Farm Bureau and the American Dental Hygienists' Association. Karen is avidly involved with her children and spends as much time as she can with them.
Ashley Savage, BSDH-Registered Dental Hygienist
Ashley is the newest member of our team. Born in North Carolina, she lived there until her move to Pennsylvania in 1997, where her parents still reside. Ashley graduated from West Virginia University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She relocated to Greenbrier County, currently living in Smoot and joined our staff in July 2012. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association. Certified in nitrous oxide monitoring, administration of local anesthesia and BLS Healthcare Provider CPR, she is working on her general supervision permit. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Thomas and loves animals; especially her miniature dachshund named Suri. Her hobbies include skiing, boating, farming, traveling and visting friends and family.
