Snooze Through Your Appointment — Wake Up With a Brand-New Smile!
You've never experienced this level of luxury at the dentist before. We fill your visit with comfort, relaxation, and peace — not something you thought you’d find at the dentist, eh? You will basically be showing up to our office for a nap.
Prior to your appointment, you will be instructed to take a pre-medication that will help calm you before you come in. When you arrive with your companion, we will seat you with a plush pillow and blanket, dim the lights, lay down a memory foam pad, light a candle, and prepare for the procedure.
There is a choice of sedation medication that can be used. You and your doctor will review many factors like your individual medical history to choose which one is right for you.
Most of our patients are administered medications from the Benzodiazapine family, such as Lorazapam. This medication has been used for many, many years and has now found a home in dentistry. The historical safety of these medications gives us great confidence in using them. If necessary, we can even reverse the effects of sedation.
During our preparation we will administer nitrous gas through a sweet — smelling mask. Soft spa music is turned on and you will drift off to sleep.
To ensure your safety, while you are medicated your vital signs are continually monitored. Baseline readings are taken at your first visit (the consultation visit), so we know what is normal for you.
The most common side effect of this sedation is temporary dry mouth, which will wear off with the medication.
When you wake, it will feel like no time has passed at all, except you are one step closer to long term oral health! Recovery time is quick as well, if post — treatment instructions are followed. Sedation is a terrific option for patients who are afraid of or are unsettled by the sounds, sights, or smells they encounter at the dentist.
Whether it's a broken tooth that needs to be fixed, discolored teeth that need to be enhanced, missing teeth that need to be replaced, or pain that needs to be alieviated, with Sedation Dentistry you can regain your health and have the fabulous smile you’ve always wanted.
